Review:

I live in Plainfield, IL and the techs who serviced my area were supposedly from the Lansing, IL location, so this review is based on their work. The work was done on January 4, 2019. When I made an appointment to have my broken garage springs fixed, I was told the price would be between $99-$159 per spring- out the door (taxes and all). The receptionist waived their $65 service call fee because I told her the company in the next town over had the same pricing minus a service fee. When the 2 techs arrived (45 minutes late), they told me I needed the $159 springs and quickly got started. Soon after, they came in the house and told me that my end bearing plates were pretty bad and it could cause a lot of damage should it break in the near future. Of course, I didn't want to be trapped in my garage should that terrible thing happen, so I asked how much extra it would be if they were to replace them. This is where it starts getting interesting... The tech told me it would be $100 to fix the problem. I was hesitant but the tech said he would offer me a few bundle package options if I were to get more than one thing fixed. Option 1: 2 new springs for $333 (hhmmm, when I add $159+159, I get $318) Option 2: 2 new springs plus the replacement of the bearing plates $473 ($318 + $100= $418...not $473????) Option 3: 2 new springs, end bearing plates, and cables $700+...No way. So I decided to pick option 2. After I went inside I started running the numbers through my head and something just wasn't adding up, literally. Somehow, their "discount bundle" was costing me an additional $55, now how can that be?? That doesn't sound like a bundle deal to me! So I went in the garage and asked them about it. The one tech told me that the additional $40 was for the center bearing plate because you can't replace just the end plates. Now wait a minute. 5 minutes ago they told me it would be total of $100 to completely fix that problem...When I asked the tech why he didn't mention that 5 minutes before, he didn't have an answer. His only response what that he would try to take it off the bill. Sneaky. Now we are left with the other $15. The tech told me that they needed to use a certain product that is $15 more to go with the new springs and that I would have to take it up with customer service, which I did. If this part is required for the $159 springs, I would think their price range should be $99-174. When I requested to speak to a supervisor I was told the tech who came to my house WAS the supervisor. So I asked for the company's owner to call me back. I was promptly refunded the $15 upon my request to speak to the owner. There were 2 messages left for Owner Greg and still no call back. I even explained that I wanted to speak to him before deciding whether to write a negative review...still nothing. So that leads me to this review. I feel that the techs tried to take advantage of me by adding additional costs on, hoping I wouldn't notice... possibly because I'm a woman. If you choose to hire this company, make sure to have your calculator in hand before handing over your credit card. This is not a trustworthy company. I am still wondering where my discount bundle is....

Review:

This company advertises on their website that the springs they use are so much better than anybody elses, that they will give you an automatic 10 year warranty. They say that if a company only gives a 1-3 year warranty, they are probably using an inferior product. This is the main reason I chose this company because of the warranty. After the springs were replaced and I paid $159 per spring x 2, I looked at my receipt and only got a 3 year warranty. I called and talked to Glenn, who is a manager, and he told me he did not know what they put on their website. He told me if I wanted the 10 year warranty, I had to pay $41 more per spring. This is the old "BAIT AND SWITCH" sales tactic. I would not use this company again. They lie to the customer to get the job and good luck to you.

Cody did an Excellent job and was a man of his word. I was very disappointed and Glenn McCory, Glenn was supposed to take care of the problem I had with my door and refuse to work on my door because he wasn’t going to get his $65 service fee. If Obvious Glenn doesn’t care about the customers happiness he just cares about his pockets, Glenn also threw his last visit to my house in my wife’s face telling her how wrong we were with our decision, It’s obvious if he would’ve communicated better maybe we would’ve made the right decision. Very unprofessional what a coward . Cody came out and fix the problem on my door was very friendly and conversational and helpful and a hard worker he went out of the way to make things right. Glenn didn’t, like I said worried more about his pocket. The reason I gave a one star rating is because of Glenn. Cody deserves five stars.

Charged $85 to open a garage door. Recommended replacement door for $950 when other company did full repair full repair for a third of the cost. Wouldn’t honor coupon on website as said more complicated than tuneup. Does not seem honorable.

Daniel, I am confused on the charge you are referring to. After reviewing the work order in the system the technician did not charge you anything. If you would clarify the charges, I will be happy to discuss making it correct. Regards, Greg

New Garage door installed today. The weather strip installed was damaged and the installers tried to "Talk" my wife into accepting the damaged installed weather strip. She was very upset. I called today was told a manger would call me. No call. Piss poor!
Tim Coughlin
A Response from: Buck

Tim, I did speak with Steve in reference to the bottom seal. I do not believe it was damaged, it is/was tied together with strapping to hold the 2 sections together during shipping. Once the weather stripping warms up it will go back to its original form, as Steve relayed this to your wife. Sorry for any miss-communication Regards, Greg

The technician was very loud and extremely messy, trying to sell me additional $500 job to begin with. Most important, he sprayed my drywall and ceiling with the spray he used standing on floor instead of using a ladder to get close to tracks and chain and he said he does that all day and should dry but hours later now I have spots all over and very unhappy and going to request my money back or for the company to clean my wall.

Disappointed in the service I received, considering I am a repeat customer. Was charged almost $349.00 and the garage door is still doing exactly what it was doing before.
Jeff Werner
A Response from: Buck

Jeff, I was informed by your tech that after preforming the 25 point inspection, a new door was needed which you agreed on. After, speaking with the landlord, he wanted to do minimal work to get the door operating. In, that case the tech did what was recommended by you and the landlord. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

I would never use this company again. They did not install my door properly the first time. I thought I paid extra for a quality insulated door, however, my garage is colder than it was with my cheap door. The service technician that came out the second time was initially defensive, seemed like we were bothering him and not nice at all. He even argued with my husband. I will never use this company again.

What a waste of money for the service visit. The tech pointed to the electrical cord from the garage opener and asked what is was. He stated that he does not feel comfortable working with electricity and asked us several times what is wrong with the garage door. Our tech Glen did not have a clue.
Brian Kwon
A Response from: Buck

Brian, I spoke with Glen about the electrical cord. He stated to me that the outlet that the cord is plugged into was an open electrical box and that the box was the issue not the operator. We are not licensed to work on electrical. Sorry for any confusion. Regards, Greg

I'd rather give you a 0, but there is no such option. I scheduled an appointment yesterday 9/8/2014 (4-6 PM) and canceled my doctors appointment. No one showed up- no call, no email. I called after 6 and was told that I will be contacted later - and no call again. I had to go with another company. Bad and unprofessional service from Precision door service, but look at the bright side- you guys have a nice song playing while putting people on hold ;)

Your service technician can us a price of $700 for a garage door opener. Is this day and age did he really think we would fall for that?!!!
Doris & Mark Dawson
A Response from: Buck

Doris, We carry a professional grade Liftmaster operator with a battery back up 2 remotes and a keypad. I apologize that you think that is to expensive and don't think you should fall for anything. I will use this as a teaching tool in reference for the techs to better explain the benefits of the operator
